"Best wishes, Colin Firth"
Mr. Firth sent a wonderful picture of him as Mr. Darcy in the recent Pride and Prejudice. I really enjoyed his performance, and I enjoyed getting the autograph as well. He signed with a black ball point pen.
This autograph was a treat because I admire Ms. French's work so much in Murder Most Horrid. She's a comedic genius! So I was quite pleased to receive this one. It is signed with a blue ball point pen. I didn't find a scan to compare it to, but the handwriting matches writing I've seen her do on the program.
This is a wonderful color photo of Mr. Furst, which he signed with a black sharpie. I had heard that he was a good signer, but this verified it. The signature matches other on-line scans.
This is a nice photo, signed in black. Right now I'm not sure whether it is stamped, secretarial, or authentic. If anyone can point me to an on-line scan, I'd appreciate it!
This one tricked me at first, because it is signed in gold. Because of this, and because of the irregular-looking ink of the signature, I was leaning toward believing it was genuine. I am now persuaded that it is a pre-print, albeit a convincing one.
This is a nice picture, but a disappointing pre-print. It's similar to the one I received from Vanessa Williams: the signature is very small and doesn't even look like it might be authentic. It is not worth the time or postage. If you decide you want to try sending a photo to her, the address on the return envelope was different from the one I used: P. O. Box 57593, Sherman Oaks CA 91403.
This was a little disappointing: it is a 5x7 pre-print. The signature is in white, and is an obvious fake. It is, however, a nice picture.
It was a long wait for this one, and I'm still not sure of the authenticity. This one could be just about anything, though I think autopen, stamp, secretarial, or authentic are the most likely. (And this should give you a sense of how confusing this one is.) I do know that it isn't a pre-print because it has ink on the back of the photo, as if it was put on a pile of just-signed pictures. Right now I can't eliminate anything else, however. If anyone has any information on this one, please let me know.
This may be my most unusual success to date, because I didn't request this. I did send a request to Elizabeth Hurley, and this came in the same envelope as the Hurley success. I wondered if this was perhaps standard prceedure, but other people have reported getting a success from Elizabeth Hurley without having one from Mr. Grant also included. Whatever the reason, I am happy to have this extra treat. The picture is signed with a black sharpie, and the signature matches in-person scans.
This response was a disappointment. My SASE wasn't used; I was sent a postcard with a pre-printed signature on the back. The card was a bit creased, and the signature didn't appear to be close to genuine.
A success from my favorite cartoonist! It was a long wait--over a year--but more than worth it to receive a genuine response. Ms. Guisewite drew a picture of Cathy "thinking" the inscription. Great stuff.
Ms. Gunn sent a nice color photo which she signed with a blue sharpie. It matches on-line scans and is clearly NOT a pre-print or an autopen.
