Giving Feedback

Please take a minute to read these comments before sending your feedback. For a few people, the anonymity of the internet offers a level of security; it is easier to send a barrage of negative comments when you know you won't have to meet this person face to face. Keep in mind that it takes courage to allow your work to be read by readers you don't know. Moreover, in my experience as both a student as a teacher, I have found that receiving nothing but criticism is discouraging, and it often results in having all suggestions discounted.

Many of you will not have this problem, but as a reminder: when you give feedback, always start with praise. This doesn't mean you can't offer suggestions, but just give them some thought. There's a writer at the other end of the message!
